Every one is talking about environment and global warming these days and organic food is a hot topic that is being discussed. People are switching to organic foods either because it’s a fad these days or they are really concerned about eating healthy. Organic food bans the use of conventional pesticides, fertilizers made with synthetic ingredients or sewage sludge for produce, and antibiotics or growth hormones for animals.
When adults go green in their eating habits, it is natural that their kids follow them. This new found craze is seeing a rapid growth in the market for organic baby food segment. These baby products cost more when compared to the normal baby food available in the market but considering the fact these foods give a feel good factor, parents are willing to pay up the difference.
According to mayoclinc, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) provides organic seals for products that contain various percentages of organic ingredients. But the USDA makes no claims or guarantees that organic foods are safer or more nutritious than non-organic foods.
Should you switch to organic baby food?
There is no doubt that organic foods taste better than the conventionally grown food but when it comes to nutrition, both foods are similar. Switching to organic food gives parents some peace as they don’t have to worry about pesticides creeping up their babies’ bodies and affecting their physical and mental growth.
Organic or not – kids should be growing on a steady diet of healthy and balanced food as it will set their eating preferences as they grow up.
