Baby bunnies as gift to my child?

Baby bunnies are just too adorable, and my kid who is now 5 wants rabbits in the house. Do you think it is a good idea to give rabbits to such a young child. My son insists that he would be careful with them, and would take care. But i don't know about the hygiene and responsibility required. Let me know if i could buy the rabbits or not? When is the best age to give him the rabbits if its is not a good idea to give it now.

There is no doubt about baby bunnies being adorable, whenever i see them i wish, i could play with them. Gifting baby bunnies to your child is not at all a bad idea if you also take care of those bunnies along with your child because to care for a baby bunny is not a child's play. I read a book where it was given that you'll have to feed the rabbits twice a day and leave them out of their cages for exercise daily, if your kid can then he will have to clean up rabbits' feces and urination which definitely you'll not find a healthy activity for your kid. Keeping a rabbit is not totally risk free as you can get allergies from the fur of bunny and it can also scratch you or bite you. About the diseases that a human can catch from bunnies the book said that catching an illness from a pet rabbit is so far down the list of hazards. If your child need a easy-to-read book on rabbit care then Taking Care of Your Rabbit might be the book you want to buy. If you are ready to help your kid in caring the bunnies then don't wait to get the new entrants in your house.
