Is there a clean way to get rid of a dirty diaper?

My aunt has left her one year baby son with me . i am babysitting him for the day. He is so chubby and full of life. He is not like the other small babies who cry a lot. Her son is very calm and chuckles now when I play the small rattle in front of him. But now there is a crisis that i need to deal with. His diaper is full of poop, and since is the first time that I was babysitting, I have no idea about changing diapers. Is there a clean way in which I can change his dirty diaper?

It's so good to hear that you are baby sitting. There would be very few babies who do not throw much tantrums and are happy playing on their on own. But as they say all good stuff also has few hitches, poop is one such a thing! Cleaning and disposing diapers is no big deal. You need to have tolerance to smell and you can finish cleaning the baby in a minute.

Things that you need before you start cleaning the poop:

1. A toy to distract the baby.

2. Baby wet wipes ( to clean baby's bum)

3. A new diaper

Procedure to clean baby's poop and change the diaper:

1. Carefully place the baby on a level surface or on a bed.

2. Place a toy in the baby's hand so that his attention is deviated and the chances for him to turn on his tummy while you clean is minimized

3. Remove the diaper straps on both sides of the hip.

4. Now carefully hold both legs of the baby and lift it up so that you can conveniently pass on a wet wipe on his bum and clean the poop sticking to his bum.

5. Remove the poop filled diaper and place it in a disposable trash cover.

6. Take another baby wet wipe and clean the baby's bum and his anus well.

7. Put on the new diaper.

Your first diaper change is accomplished!

Tidy up the place by disposing the poop filled diaper in the trash can.

Tip :

1. When you open the diaper to clean , you can get most of the poop sticking on to the bum to the diaper by sliding the inner part of the diaper once to the bum. This way most of the loose poop is transferred to the diaper and it would be easy to clean the bum.

2. Make sure that you do not keep any traces of poop on the baby's bum as it may lead to many more poops and many more diaper changes!
