What should I do to cure infant rash ?

When I was dressing my 3-year-old I noticed a rough, pimply red rash on her back and chest. I also found it on her arms and legs. What could it be? Should I call the doctor?...When I consulted her about the itchiness or some burning effect, she said to have it from the past two hours...Is this normal with the kids during summer season...I though have applied some ice cubes on it but of no use...What should I do..???

The rashes mentioned by you are very common during childhood. Children are continually exposed to a number of illness and irritants that can cause such a rash. Practically, all rashes can wait until you call your doctor's office to fix an appointment. You should normally wash the child with mild baby soap and water. This is actually, all that is essential to treat baby acne. Avoid use of any type of acne medicines Depending on the type of the rash, antihistamines may be suggested to decrease the itching. In extreme cases, if the rash does not subside then medical help should be taken and antibiotics may be prescribed if a bacterial infection is diagnosed. The doctor may advise a cream to be applied to the child.

In case the rash is severe and not a yeast infection, a corticosteroid cream may be suggested.

There are lots of homeopathic ointments too. Calendula works wonders but visit a homoeopath before applying it to the child. Some kids are extra sensitive and get rashes easily than others.
