Keep your baby sun-safe

Charu Amar . Feb 11 2007

Exposing your baby to sun for a long time is no good way to give vitamin D to his body. Doing this you will be exposing him to circumstances as serious as 'death' in some cases.

This is because extreme exposure to sun can increase the body temperature, leading to excessive perspiration and water loss.

This condition is called dehydration and dehydrated babies readily get a stroke. Apart from that sweating also leads to loss of salt from the body, which upsets the composition of body fluids and makes it susceptible to sickness.

Thus, during the summer months, it is extremely important to keep up the fluid levels in your baby's body by constantly feeding him with water and other fluids. And most importantly make sure you avoid taking your baby out in the sun as much as possible.
