Feeding your child with an ample diet at regular intervals is a constant worry of most mothers. However, scolding them and arguing over the matter is hardly a solution. Some mothers prefer giving in to the demands of their babies to make them eat. This can negatively influence the child.

To get your child to switch to a sound diet, you need to understand the child's psychology and direct them toward healthy eating habits. Here are few tips to get you started:
1. Don't discuss poor eating habits on the dining table
Avoid discussing your child’s food habits on the dining table or whenever he/she is having food. This would further refrain the child from having a proper diet as it would become a stress for him/her.
2. Try and try you will succeed
Research shows that children need to be introduced to the new food item for around ten to fifteen times before they can actually get used to it. They might stick to only one food for days to set a familiar food in their diet. This does not mean that they will get poor nutrition.
3. Adopt positive food habits yourself
If you are addicted to chips, biscuits, and other unhealthy items at the time of a proper meal, your kid is expected to do the same. So, first try and be a positive role model yourself. If you switch to a healthy diet, your kid would automatically catch on that habit just the way he/she catches your behavior.
4. Don’t give in to demands
Often you would find your kid asking for his favorite food frequently. And most often you would give in to their demands. But this is not the solution. Refrain from fulfilling all weird demands. This would make your kid believe that he/she can hold you at ransom and get things just by eating that bowl of rice.
5. Feed at right intervals
It is necessary to feed the child at right intervals. If you feed the child whenever he/she feels hungry, he/she would always feel full and would not want to have a proper diet. So, even if your little one says he/she is just too hungry, just feed him/her only a little and meanwhile prepare a proper diet.
6. Wait till 5 years
Your child is just a toddler at the moment and would take sometime to have a proper scheduled diet. The need of the hour is just to relax and give the kid sometime. If even after the age of 5 years, your kid refuses to eat then there is a need to consult a doctor. But till that time relax and try to get your child to adopt healthy habits.
