It is queer foolery of parents, nurses and nannies to shake up crying babies when they are crying. There are incidents which report the death, paralysis, blindness and brain damage in children. Parents must understand that children cry only when they feel helpless and if the response is violent the condition leads the child to feel a greater shock.
Therefore, if you love your baby you would not do a cruel thing like shaking your baby while he cries. Walter Howard Smith Jr., who deals with child abuse, suggests soothing the child in such situations instead of torturing him/her more. As per Smith:
If you're caring for a baby and you're feeling stressed and annoyed because the baby isn't "behaving," put the baby in a safe place and do something to help yourself calm down.
