Surgery and anxiety in kids

A study states that children who are anxious before surgery takes much longer time to recover than the kids who were not at all anxious.

It has been discovered by the researchers that anxious kids experience more problems emerging from anesthesia and significantly more pain during the stay in the hospital. Similarly, they consume more codeine and acetaminophen during home recovery. In addition, they have higher incidence of postoperative anxiety and sleep problems.
