What is the furthermost thing you would educate your child about?

I would like your opinions on what the furthermost thing is that you would educate your child about. The one thing or a couple of things that you feel are very important your child should know. You could also give your opinions on what children should know in general about stuff. Have you ever been given such a thought that you remember till date of what your parents taught you? Do you think educating is different than hoping your child follows you? Would expect or just leave at the fact that child should just know.

The most difficult thing parents all over the globe face today is bringing up their children. It is something to which you are emotionally attached as well as you have to be very realistic and practical. Sometimes parents become obsessive and teach children what they think is right and what they used to do at their times. Parents should realize the times have changed; they need to have lot of patience when dealing with their kids. It is advisable to be understanding and gentle while teaching some basic things to kids but with confidence giving all their answers so that they follow it. The thumb rule is never imposing your thoughts on them. Parents should start educating their children about lot of simple things from the childhood like Good Manners and Etiquettes, table behavior, behavior with friends, family, and teachers. Also include educating them about duties and responsibilities of a good citizen, law and rules of the land, what is morally right and wrong like smoking, drinking etc. If you have a teenager, you need to give sex education to them at a early stage to prohibit them to get into illicit relationships and unwanted pregnancy. Kids are closer to the parents who behave like friends and not authoritative. They feel protected sharing all their doubts and problems with their parents. So, understand your child and teach accordingly.
