When Can You Tell The Gender Of A Baby?

Hey, I am from Seto, Japan and I am 27 years old. I have been married for about a year now and I want to know when can you tell the gender of a baby. My wife is not pregnant at the moment but we are discussing about having children. So we need to know everything about kids. We want to know at which month it is possible to tell the gender of the baby. We have started discussing names for both girls and boys. We are both ready to experience parenthood. So please help us give a carry forward our thoughts. We were actually keeping it a surprise for ourselves, we planning on not finding out, but wife is too eager and wants know everything before hand.

This is one of the most common questions I receive from parents-to-be. Knowing gender of a coming baby can help you in many ways. Like it can help you in picking the name, buying sex specific clothes and yeah off course in decorating your baby’s nursery. These days’ parents can find out their baby’s gender with ultrasound months before delivery. Usually done between the 18th to 26th weeks of the pregnancy, but some newer ultrasound technology can determine the baby’s gender as early as 12 or 13 weeks. Prior to this time the baby may not be well enough developed to get an accurate answer with a gender ultrasound. Some other methods to determine baby’s gender are Amniocentesis and chrionic villus sampling (CVS), they are genetic tests that can be used earlier to find out the sex of your baby. Chronic villus sampling is performed during the first trimester to look for problems with the baby's chromosomes. But these tests are infrequently used, because they are more invasive and can pose health risks to your baby.
