How good is yogurt for babies under 1?

My daughter is 9 months old and I want to introduce yogurt to her now, as suggested by my mom. I want to know if it is a good option to give her along with cereal for breakfast. I would really like to know about the brand of yogurt for babies, as I want to get the best for her. I would appreciate if someone can share few reviews about such yogurt from a pediatrician if possible. I would love to hear from you guys at the earliest! Thanks.

Yogurt can be added to your babies diet as early as when she is six months.Prefer pasteurized whole milk yogurt that is naturally sweetened to fat freeand artificially sweetened ones. If you would want to try any flavored yogurt, opt for a fruit flavor that your child is already fond of.

When you start supplementing your baby’s food with yogurt, ensure that youfeed for at least three continuous days and observe any reactions that yourchild may show. If there is a family history of people developing allergies dueto yogurt intake, chances are high that your child might also be allergic. In sucha case it is advisable that you introduce yogurt to your child only after sixmonths of age.

If you are wondering why yogurt is good for your baby, the bacterialcultures that are found in yogurt help to break down lactose and this becomeseasier to digest. And hence it is perfectly fine to introduce pasteurized yogurtto your baby even before you give pasteurized milk for which you need to waittill she turns one year.

Supplement yogurt by varying the base food in your baby's diet so that sheretains and relishes the flavor of yogurt for years to come.
