Sit back and relax. Though the first trimester is full of issues both mental and physical, but this is also the right time to let the amazing feeling sink in that in another few months you would be a proud mom. Well, weight gain is a constant worry for expecting women, and why not? Since we associate the total weight gain with  the baby's weight, it becomes all the more important to have a check on the weight all through the 9 months. During the first few weeks though, the weight gain is minimum, thanks to the morning sickeness, usually constant nusea and bad apetite. And there are serious possibilities of even a sudden weight loss during this phase of the pregnancy.Trust me , there is nothing to worry at all. The baby starts gaining weight at the end of the second trimester and the whole of the third. So, if you have not gain much weight in the first few weeks, dont panic. At an average anything from 1 to 5 pounds of weight gain is considered good and normal for both the mother and the baby.
