How to make homemade toys?

I have a son who is eight years old and a daughter who is four and a half years old. Both of them are really compatible with each other and have no problems in sharing among themselves whatever little i give them.I have brought them so many toys ,but due to excessive use of these toys they spoil the brand new toys .Especially my son who has a habit of playing with his toys as soon as he completes his homework. So i was thinking that rather than wasting so much money on buying them new toys why don't i make toys at home since i have also been an art teacher. How do i make homemade toys and what are the kinds of homemade toys that i can make for an eight year old son and a five year old daughter?

Kids do not prefer the toys having lights and too much stuffs attached with. They love to play with simple toys. It is not only economical to make them at home but an interesting way to utilize the discards of your household. Simultaneously, you can use the stuff that has soft texture and is easy to wash for making it pleasurable and safe experience for your kid.

  1. Felted texture is the best option as it is sturdy and does not get unraveled.
  2. Now firstly draw the teddy on a sheet to get a layout and trim the felted fabric accordingly. The printouts are easily available to get a layout for nose, arms, legs, ear, lips and other body part of the toy.
  3. Start with sewing the nose from the neck. Then sew three pieces of head and turn the fabric to sew ear on the another side. Stitch the arms and legs separately.
  4. Now its time to integrate all the body parts together. Prefer to stitch them own your own instead using sewing machine as it is more feasible to stitch specially in felted textured fabric.
  5. Give a perfect look to the features of the toy by using buttons for the eyes and embroidery for the other features.
  6. For decorating it, you can let it wear the old garments of your children or any old scarf.

Have pleasure to see your kid playing with your hand-made toy!
