Now kids can bring their toys to reality with Origo

Origo is a 3D printer which is being developed by Artur Tchoukanov and Joris Peels. This device is still in a prototype stage and is being created especially for the children of age 10 years and above. Origo was initially the Masters project of Artur Tchoukanov while he was pursuing a course at the Umea Institute of Design, Sweden. Later, Artur decided to start a company called Origo and also gave the same name to his device. The amazing Origo allow the kids to print toys of their own. The 3D printer attached with the device prints any shape or design that the kids draw. As a result, kids get to play with toys that they have actually created on their own.

Origo

Freaky design

The design of Origo is very innovative. If the device is able to deliver what it promises, it can bring a great change in the world of toys. With Origo, children will get a chance to be more creative. They will no longer have to depend on the toys in the market. Origo will help them to design any type of toy they fancy. This is surely going to be like a dream come true for the kids. The endless fun that Origo promises to offer is going to make it favorite among the kids. Parents would no longer have to worry about buying them new toys.

Geeky concept and use

Origo works on a very simple concept, where kids draw a digital design of their choice and the 3D printer of Origo prints it out for them. It can bring any of your imaginary toys into reality. Working on Origo will be very easy as it works on a program called 3Dtin. As compared to other 3D programs, 3Dtin is very simple to learn and use. The program uses virtual blocks to create the 3D shapes on the screen which are later printed in the form of toys. The 3D printer can print toys of various sizes ranging from the size of a ring to the size of a jar. The amount of time taken to print a toy depends on the size and complexity of the design. Smaller and simpler toys can be printed within few minutes, but bigger and more complex toys can take few hours to be printed.

The company has also decided to provide 10 types of colors, but one toy can be built in only one color. The material that the printer uses to print the toys is biodegradable plastic. Right now, the cost of this plastic is high. However, the company is doing its best to make it more reasonable. It has also been decided to build a recycling pod that can break the old toys and use the material to build new toys. Origo is also supposed be non-toxic and child-friendly.

Cost

Origo will come with a 3D printer which is expected to have a wireless connectivity and USB port. So, the price will be somewhere around $800 which is very reasonable when we compare it with other 3D printers.
