This seems to be a perfect piece of information to be put before you in continuation with the previous post ‘Scottish Kids top Obesity Charts all over the world’. As I wrote earlier that most of the TV Ads promote junk food, which is yet another factor why kids get attracted to it. But ‘burger king’ McDonalds has come up with another cheap tactic to shoot up its sales. They have decided to target the kids to draw out moolah from daddy’s pocket.
After keeping toys in happy meal or giving free caps and other goodies, this time the food joint is going high-tech…rather even more than that. McDonalds with Walt Disney is planning to drip-feed entertainment into a portable player while the owner eats in a restaurant. All this in the cost of a happy Meal…But the catch here is that you can download the complete program only when you visit the restaurant again and again and buy that happy meal. And this means a clear cut addition into the already soaring high revenues of McDonalds.
When the owner buys a meal they get an electronic code that authorizes a partial download. If the file is in five parts there is a strong incentive to come back for four more meals.
I think this is nothing more than a cheap marketing tactic…These guys are trying to make big money on the cost of kids’ health. Kids are too young to understand this…and the market is already blinded by the loads of moolah that they have already begun to see…so its only the parents who can do something.
