Muppet Babies For Kids?

My children 3 and 5 are adamant about getting these muppet babies. What are they exactly and are they worth buying, and wasting money on? What can the kiddos do with them exactly? I don't want to have to spend and then realize they are good for nothing. Does it come in the form of video games or something worthwhile. Please feel free to provide some links as to where i can get them. I stay in South San Francisco, so please do let me know about some stores or web links where i could find these toys.
