Can anyone give some guidance on single parenting in California?

I recently got divorced from my husband and has a big responsibility of my baby boy on me, both to support him financially and emotionally...He has kind of psychologically shaken by the judicial process of me and my husband's divorce. I want an effective guidance from you friends on single parenting in this city and how to deal with the situation. Also can anyone give me some idea of various organisations dealing with scholarship of such children with their education as it would be very helpful for me.

"Broken home" –even the term causes pain and misunderstanding. Many times children in singleparent households face hurtful remarks and negative stereotypes made by numbadults. Whether the single parent family is a result of death or divorce, thekid is not responsible for the situation. But, often he has to pay the price. As adults we need to change our attitudes, be more compassionate and sensitiveto such kids and understand that even single parents can raise good kids.

I am sure that the following tips will definitely help you to be amore understanding and patient single mother.

Itis very important that you accept the differences of you son.

Makesure that you are not making him the man around you house. Yes, it is importantto teach him ways to be grown up man; however there is a huge differencebetween the "little man" and responsible adult that you might expecthim to be. Remember your kid is neither your confidant nor your rescuer.

Iunderstand that you see your husband’s face when you see your child. It is okayto be a little emotional as well. Let your son that he is important to you.

Talkto him about the positive qualities you come across men on a day-to-day basis. Forexample if you're buying baseball shoes for your son, and the salesman is friendlyor attentive, then inform this trait out to your son.
