Is It Normal To Miss A Period?

Is it normal to miss a period, because I seem to be having this problem a couple of times now? I have missed my periods twice before, which means I missed it and got it after two months. Now it is happening again after a year. I have had my first kid about 5 months back. So I was supposed to get my periods this month, but it is not happening. Should I get it checked? I am sure I am not pregnant again; I have got it checked out.
