Can you have your period and still be pregnant?

From last few months I am missing my periods and when today in the morning I have test for pregnancy from home pregnancy kits than it show that I am pregnant. But now in the evening I am having some brown discharge. I know that home pregnancy kits are not 100% accurate so may be it has shown false result or maybe it is a sign of pregnancy. So tell me that can you have your period and still be pregnant? Should I go to doctor for proper pregnancy test?

It is unlikely for a woman to menstruate during pregnancy. Every month your uterus prepares for the possibility of an egg being embedded there by forming a lining of blood and tissue. If you are not pregnant, you shed this lining as menstruation. Once you are pregnant, your body stops shedding this lining, which is why it is not possible to menstruate during pregnancy.

What you are experiencing is commonly known as spotting. There are many reasons for spotting or mild bleeding that includes ectopic pregnancy, implantation bleeding, sexual intercourse, genital infection and even miscarriage. Spotting is usually mild and does not continue for more than 2 days.

Since you have missed your periods for a few months, it seems like you are pregnant. It is therefore necessary for you to see a doctor as soon as possible. You need to know if you are pregnant for sure, and if yes, then how long have you been pregnant. Pregnancy requires monitoring at all stages. Also, you need to know the reason of your spotting. You will need to follow specific diet and health routines if you are indeed pregnant. It is therefore recommended that you consult with your physician without any delay to avoid any risk.
