Could someone tell me about popular children books?

My kid's vacations have commenced, and he has been asked to include reading in his daily activities. He is 7 years old, and I find it a good avocation rather than to play video games all the time. I want some advice on a few popular children books, which could be enjoyed by him. I would also appreciate few bestsellers, however, they should be fiction, as I want to make reading experience quite exciting and refreshing to him. Thereby, someone please suggest appropriately. Thanks.

Children usually love to mimic their parents, so you should first find some books for yourself too that you enjoy reading. Now fix a reading time, preferably after supper or in the afternoons when all of you can gather around in the den and read books. For a 7 yr old boy here is a list of books that he will enjoy loads:

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory written by the classic and highly prolific author Roald Dahl,

The New Captain Underpants Collection offered by children's author and illustrator Dav Pilkey unfolds the achievements of the great comic superhero in underpants,

The magical world unveiled  by popular Australian author Anna Fienberg in her Tashi series is also another very good option,

Comedy writer and author Andy Griffiths’ Just Annoying book is a sure shot winner to trap your son in the web of an eccentric collection of ridiculous and funny stories, ,

Often kids are greatly interested in gross stuff. Well starting to read about these might prove to be even more funnier. Try award-winning writer Joy Masoff's Oh, Yuck! The Encyclopedia of Everything Nasty,

Hatchet written by American kid's writer Gary Paulsen,

Sienna Mercer's My Sister the Vampire 2 - Fangtastic! is also another very interesting series about a13 year old fictitious Olivia Abbott whose sister Ivy is the vampire,

The Flat Stanley Collection written by comic writer Jeff Brown is a collection of four books dealing with the adventures of Stanley Lambchop who becomes flat like a paper one fine day,

The Diary of a Wimpy Kid written by cartoonist and game developer Jeff Kinney,

Another very captivating read is the Secret Agent by Geronimo Stilton (a pseudonym for Elisabetta Dami).

The list is endless but these books have proved to have converted many non-readers into avid readers. They are just the stepping stones your kid is waiting for to enter the enchanted land of books.
