Pregnancy Clothing For a Friend!

Hi I have never entered a shop to look for pregnancy clothing. This time I am going to be shopping for maternity clothes for a close4 friend I need to as soon as possible how do you pick out maternity clothes for some. She would not be present with me when I am buying the clothes, so how would I know what to get her and what would fit her? Doe maternity clothes come in free sizes because if they do it would be easier for me to pick out something. Her baby bump is not showing at the moment, so what do I do? Please help me select maternity clothes, should I wait for when her baby bump sarts to show and get her along or can I buy it without her being there. I think the best option would be a dress, what do you say? Also what colors should i be choosing?
