is it possible, getting pregnant on your period?

Hey, I am fearing something is wrong with me. I have not been well for the past couple of days and I have been having antibiotics. Maybe i am getting my periods and I am just getting paranoid. What I want to understand is, that how can i be getting my periods when I am pregnant. I have been pregnant for a month now. I know what spotting is and this bleeding is definitely not similar to spotting. Please make it clear to me about getting pregnant on your period. I do not understand why this is happening, should I tell my doctor about this case. I am thinking the worst would be a miscarriage. But I do not think it is that either because the pregnancy belly is still showing.

Women often confuse any vaginal bleeding as their period because that is what they are used to happening.  This is a common occurrence and a wide misconception. But if you are sure that it is not spotting than it may be dangerous. You cannot have a period while you are pregnant because both of these functions cannot happen at the same time. If you are pregnant and began menstruating, than you are right that may be you have lose the pregnancy or have a miscarriage. Although you can't be pregnant and have a period at the same time, you can, in fact, experience vaginal bleeding and continue to be pregnant. These are two very different terms: vaginal bleeding and menstruation (period), but it is usually vaginal bleeding that women confuse as their periods. But as you are sure than I will suggest you to consult to your doctor as early as possible. </span></p>
