What is the procedure of the d&c after a miscarriage?

Hi, what is the d&c method that takes place after a miscarriage? I have heard of it numerous times. I have failed to be able to read up on it. It would be great if you could give me a gist of this operation or procedure. I know it is called the dilation and curettage procedure. What is the need of this procedure and when is it supposed to be carried out? Are there different types of miscarriages?

It is great that you know that d&c also known as dilationand curettage procedure. But I want to tell you that d&c is a surgicaloperation or a surgical treatment of a miscarriage. Doctors dilate the cervixof a woman and empty the uterus by scraping uterine lining. In first trimesterthe doctor uses a suction curette in place of sharp curette this is why in 1sttrimester it is also known as d&a. It is used in miscarriage treatment tocure the unusual heavy bleeding because it stops the bleeding. It is a lifesaving process. If a doctor feelsthe miscarriage, he can use d&c. it is also used in ectopic pregnancy. Butd&c carries small risks because it can puncture the uterus, and can causeweakening of cervix. These risks are rare but can occur occasionally. It can beperformed in a hospital or doctor’s clinic. The doctor can prescribe painmedication as needed for recovery.
