What are the safe medications during pregnancy?

Hello everyone! My sister is 4 months pregnant. This is her first pregnancy and she is suffering from all kinds of troubles that a woman has to face during this period. She is having high blood pressure for 1 month now and is also suffering from constipation. I want to know the list of safe medications during pregnancy so that I can help my sister?

Category A and category B drugs are safe during pregnancy. CategoryA includes drugs such as folic acid, vitamin B6 while Category B includes someantibiotics, acetaminophen etc. during the first trimester of pregnancy youshould take only prescribed amount of medications because this is the mostcrucial time for a mother and baby. You should avoid the drugs that contain teratogenbecause it is an agent that causes a birth defect. You can ask your health careprovider to inform you the benefits and adverse effects of medicines duringpregnancy. Before taking the newly prescribed medication discuss the risks andbenefits with your health care provider. You can take prenatal vitamins tabletswithout any prescription. You can also take help of some home remedies if detected with any mild problem like allergy, cough, fever and constipation. Try to avoid themedicine if it is not necessary especially in the case of over-the- countermedicines.
