what is spotting, for a pregnant woman?

What is spotting and why does it happen. Is it a distressful topic? Should every pregnant lady know about it? Is it important to know? Does it cause anything that a pregnant lady would not want to know about? Should it be reported as soon as it takes place? How many times does spotting take place in a woman during pregnancy? When does it normally take place? I have understood from a bit of research that it is bleeding, but how much does the woman bleed.  Is it a very serious matter? During which trimester does it happen normally?

It is very mild. It is not a medical or scientific term. It can be light brown in color and only for few days. It can be vary from woman to woman. It can be mild to severe. It can be with clots or without clots. It can occur during pregnancy or between the periods. It is not harmful. Sex during pregnancy can also cause spotting. There are chances of miscarriage during pregnancy due to spotting but not in every case. Only 20% women face the problem of miscarriage after spotting. If you are facing severe bleeding or spotting immediately contact with your doctor. In first trimester spotting is normal but in second or third trimester it can be harmful. Not every woman face this problem. Spotting in 2nd and 3rd trimester can be due to infection in cervix. It never mean that your baby is in trouble. When the period of spotting extend from 2 to 3 days this can be a serious matter. So without any delay report your doctor. Only a doctor or health provider can give you the solution. </span></p> <p style="margin: 0in; margin-bottom: .0001pt; line-height: 12.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; color: #575757; background: white;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p style="margin-top: .75pt; margin-right: 0in; margin-bottom: 3.0pt; margin-left: 0in; line-height: 15.6pt;"><span style="font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; color: #40463c; background: white;"><br /> <br /> <br /> <!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]--><br /> <!--[endif]--></span></p>
