Suggest me some colors that I can use for a baby blanket?

My cousin and his wife ,who is Japanese, just had their first baby boy, almost 6 weeks. I do a lot of crochet and I want to make a blanket for the baby as a welcome home gift. I don't know anything about the Japanese culture , does anyone know about Japanese culture because I am worried using any color in the blanket which may be sign of a bad luck in her culture. Any suggestions...!!

Baby blankets form a good gift for a new born baby. It can be a pleasant gift for the mother too, if the blanket design accompanies easy wash ability and drying. The choice of the color of the baby blanket counts as an essential in making the gift memorable. When designing a blanket yourself, it is important to be aware of the color significance of the receiver's culture. You might choose black as a dominant color scheme for the blanket, which can be a color for mourning in a culture which can disappoint the receiver. In your case, designing a blanket with a color scheme that is auspicious for Japanese, you should opt for red, green, white, pink, yellow and orange. If you are choosing, white as a suitable color, be sure not to club it with black as it would signify mourning rather than celebrations.
