Top Apps for kids on the iPhone

I recently got an iPhone and my child is constantly on it. He is 8 years old; every kid by this age knows everything about gadgets. He is very fond of football, well which kid isn’t. So he is insisting I put in some applications in to the iPhone. Which are the top apps for kids? Something related to football that too. Give me anything that an 8 year old would like to play. Do any of these applications make the phone hang? Will they work properly? I am sure he is going to sit on it whenever he gets the chance to, so how fast would it run out the battery. Do tell me where to download the apps from, I would like it as soon as possible.
