You have reached the third trimester of your pregnancy which demands extra caution from your end for a healthy child birth.

Be cautious with your physical movements. Let those be slow and soft. You can avoid numbness and aches in fingers, across wrists and hands by using pillow lift for hands while lying down or frequently stretching them.

At this time you might face breathing problem. Don’t sleep on your back. Sleep on your left side with pillow in between your legs. Avoid tight fitting clothes.

Monitor your baby’s kick count. If it is less than 10 every 2 hours consult your physician.

You need to have strong pelvic muscles which will facilitate a comfortable delivery. Practice Kegel exercises to strengthen the pelvic muscles. You can take your doctor’s help in selecting exercises.

In case of severe headaches, abdominal pain, nausea, edema not subsiding within a span of 2-3 days consult your doctor.

Third trimester is associated with rapid development of baby. You have to intake a balanced nutritional diet comprising mainly of protein, iron, calcium, magnesium, B group vitamins and a fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).Good sources of protein are eggs, pulses, meat products, cereals, etc. Restrict yourself in consuming fats and oils. You need to take about 300 mg/day.

Make sure your doctor’s and hospital’s contact numbers are readily available.
